Barbet breed History
Barbet breed is very old. The breed is often referred fr.om 1500s in the literature. In the literature there are references to both smaller and larger specimens of barbeter. The larger individuals are better suited to guard homes and livestock, while the smaller and medium-sized dogs were mostly dogs.
Once upon a time used the same name for Barbet and poodle. Barbetens original purpose of use was a water dog that chased the birds, and that does more than just retrieving. It is not afraid of cold, but moving in water in all weather. It searches and come up game that hide in aquatic vegetation and retrieving the shot by his driver. Barbeten has also been used to retrieve arrows that hunter shot, just like the Portuguese water dog. Tom Navy has used barbeten as a retriever.
The French kings, is also said in his time chasing the Barbet. The breed's exact origin is not known, but probably originated barbeten from Asian sheepdogs and possibly from the early Griffons. According to the long-haired Shepherd family tree made by J Coly barbeten would have been incurred in the 800s. It has evolved from the contemporary Shepherd in the Atlas Mountains (Berger you haut Atlas), which in turn derives from the South Russian Shepherd dog (Ovcharka). Ovcharkan we know from the fall of the Iron Age 1000 years before our era. Barbeten has also sometimes been called Griffons d'Arret à Poil Laineux (laineux = woolly).

The term TI ("titrated initial", in Swedish about "new blood") and means that the lineage is unknown, and the dog has just been intypad (ie, approved at an official exhibition in France) The FCI can dogs with unknown ancestor in the third degree NOT conquer INTUCH! They are also not eligible for the CACIB!
